Dubai with Twins: The City I Returned to, and Loved Even More
Dubai has a special place in my heart. I first visited in 2013, and even then the city felt magical: warm, welcoming and full of promise. Back then, there were far fewer buildings, and you could see wide open spaces between the landmarks.
Returning in 2025 was like stepping into a new world. The skyline had grown beyond recognition, with new towers and apartment buildings everywhere I looked, and so many new places to explore. Yet some things hadn't changed at all: the feeling of being truly looked after, and the warmth of the people. Everyone I met was so friendly and welcoming, and that is a big part of why I love Dubai.
Flying with 8-month-old twins
This trip was my first time flying with my twins, who were just 8 months old. Honestly, my first thought was: how am I going to do this? It turned out to be much easier than I expected. Since then, we've been on plenty more trips together. Here's what worked for us:
- Fly in the evening. Babies are more likely to sleep for much of the flight.
- Choose a baby-friendly airline. I love Emirates. The crew were happy to warm milk for us on board. Ask about a bassinet seat when you book.
- Pack their usual food. My twins were already on solids, so I took Weetabix, which they knew and liked.
- Bring extra clothes for them and for you. You'll be glad you did.
- Pack a few small toys and new things to keep them entertained.
Arriving in style

Just like on my first visit, a private chauffeur met me at the airport and drove me to the beautiful Jumeirah Mina A'Salam. I loved it so much the first time that I chose to stay there again, this time for 10 nights. When I travel, I like to slow down and enjoy every moment.
Waking up to the sound of the waves and the beach glowing at sunrise felt like a dream. Breakfast overlooking the water soon became my favourite way to start the day.
Slow days and Dubai evenings

Some of my favourite moments were the simplest: reading on the beach, listening to the waves and feeling the warm breeze.
On other days I wandered through Dubai Mall, with its endless shops and cafés, then stepped outside to watch the Dubai Fountain dance to music and light. I went back to watch it again and again.
I loved long evening walks along JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence), with its beachfront cafés, boutiques and lights shimmering across the water. I also explored the lanes of Souk Madinat and drifted along its waterways on a traditional abra boat as the sun set.
The desert safari

The highlight of the trip was a desert safari, which felt like stepping into another world:
- 4x4 pickup and drop-off from the hotel
- Thrilling dune bashing
- Camel rides and sandboarding
- Live fire shows, Tanoura and belly dancing
- A BBQ dinner under the stars
The desert at sunset was breathtaking: endless golden sand, a glowing sky and a sense of peace that's hard to describe.
A day trip to Abu Dhabi

One of my most memorable days was a trip to Abu Dhabi. My first stop was the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, a masterpiece of white marble and gold. Walking through its courtyards felt peaceful and almost spiritual.
Next was the Louvre Abu Dhabi, where art, architecture and culture come together beneath its famous floating dome. It's a place that invites you to slow down and wander.
A city where I always felt safe
What struck me most, in 2013 and again in 2025, was how safe Dubai felt. I often found myself out at 1am enjoying the warm night air, and I never once felt uneasy. As a woman, that sense of security let me relax and fully enjoy every moment.
Plan your own Dubai trip
Dubai treated me with kindness, comfort and wonder at every turn. That's exactly the kind of trip I plan for my clients: a smooth arrival, beautiful hotels, unforgettable experiences and a place where you can feel completely at ease.
